How Aero Design Rebuilt CalFFA’s Platform to Streamline Student Engagement, Support Educators, and Power Agricultural Education Across the State

overview

At Aero Design, we specialize in solving complex digital challenges for associations and nonprofits—especially when those challenges involve third-party platforms with limited flexibility. That’s exactly what we encountered with the California Park & Recreation Society (CPRS), a membership-based organization using Higher Logic to power its online community and content hub. CPRS needed more than what the platform offered out of the box. We partnered with them to push the boundaries of what Higher Logic could do, delivering a refined user experience and customized display tools that better serve their members and mission.

challenge

CPRS came to us with a clear goal: improve the usability, accessibility, and visual appeal of their online platform—without abandoning the Higher Logic environment that underpinned their member database and communications. However, Higher Logic’s admin tools presented real limitations in terms of layout, visual customization, and content structure. The organization needed custom display solutions and a front-end overhaul that respected the platform’s constraints while elevating the experience for members across the state. It was a challenge of creativity and precision—exactly the kind of work we love.

our approach

Our team began by auditing the existing site to identify pain points and uncover opportunities for enhancement within Higher Logic’s architecture. We developed custom CSS and JavaScript solutions to introduce new layout and content display components not natively supported by the admin console. To ensure long-term maintainability, we documented every enhancement and worked closely with CPRS staff to integrate new content workflows that improved clarity and reduced administrative effort. Throughout the process, we remained focused on accessibility, mobile performance, and brand consistency—all while operating within a rigid third-party system.

results

CPRS now has a Higher Logic-powered website that looks, feels, and functions like a fully custom experience. Members can access key resources more easily, navigate with greater confidence, and enjoy a polished interface that better reflects the professionalism of the organization. Staff report improved content management and fewer support issues, thanks to a more intuitive structure and clearly defined templates. This project is a testament to Aero Design’s ability to work creatively within limitations—delivering high-impact results even in highly structured environments like Higher Logic.
